The first size (ML) of the Buzz Z4 will hopefully be going to test before the end of this year. A little bit later than hoped, mainly due to the weather, but the design team are happy that they have made something to carry on the success of the Z3.

The delays caused by the weather also affected the Delta 2, but this should also be going to certification within the next few weeks. We were flying the final version in Argentina and we all fell in love with this wing. We have split the M size into MS and ML, so it will be the ML that gets certified first.

At the same time we are also hoping to certify a lighter version of the tandem - the Mag2Lite - utilising similar materials to the Geo and Swift it is about a kilo lighter than the Magnum 2 and will have the option of some very light spreaders.

The design team will be spending January working on the other sizes of the Z4 and Delta 2 and on the Mantra M5. We also intend to have a special X-Alps wing.

At the start of 2013 we should also be offering chinguards to go with the Nutshell and adding a blue and a white colour.

During 2013 we will be working on adding some new harnesses to the range. The first being a user friendly X-Alps type harness.

BUZZ Z4 - novi low end EN B glider iz Ozone gliders pekare pušten na slobodu!

Novine kojima se diči BUZZ Z4 su:
- 13% manji otpor konopaca nego kod Z3! (ostao 4-liner);
- dorađeni otvori komora i novi oblik prednjeg ruba radi poboljšanja performansi i lakše pitch kontrole;
- mini rebra, ojačanja na zadnjem rubu krila (kao kod modla viših kategorija);
- ravna i zategnuta površina krila te lagani materijali donose agilnost i olakšavaju polijetanje;
- 6 veličina omogućavaju izbor težinske kategorije koju želite letiti, odnosno izbor najbolje veličine;
- Z4 ima značajno poboljšanu finesu (0.6-0.8) u odnosu na Z3.

Z3 je jedno od najprodavanijih i najuspjelijih modela nastao u Ozoneu. Z3 je izbor nekoliko ozone-ovaca kao krilo za slobodno vrijeme. Nasljednik bi trebao uspješno zamijeniti Z3.

Buzz Z4 je idealan izbor za pilote koji godišnje lete između 30 i 50 sati ili za iskusnije pilote koji traže viši stupanj pasivne sigurnosti i udobnost intermedia klase.

Pitam se, kao i svaki pravi teoretičar urote, zašto je desno postolje prekriveno crvenom krpom??? Koliko ona teži??? Da li je možda ispod nje neka tanka olovna ploča??? HAA!!!

Još malo brzopoteznih (bez optičkih varki;-)

M5: U planu su 2 verzije Mantre 5. 3-liner će biti EN certificiran u planiranom D razredu još ovaj mjesec (nadaju se u Ozone-u). 3L M5 će biti za pilote koji su letili M4 ili slična krila u istoj kategoriji, a koji žele još performansi uz istu razinu udobnosti. Ali se sprema i 2-liner M5, za pilote koji žele ići prema PWC/comp/open klasi krila. Vjerojatno 2L M5 verzija neće biti certificirana prema EN standardu.

Delta 2, Size S: čeka se rezultat EN testitanja, a ovisi o vremenskim prilikama.

Delta 2 Size XS: bit će završena nakon S veličine istog modela.

BUZZ Z4 XS: čeka se rezultat EN testitanja, a ovisi o vremenskim prilikama..

LM5 (X-Alps Wing): ovo je Light Mantra 5, a nastaje u korelaciji između Ozone R&D Team, Chrigel Maurer i X-Alps Ozone pilota. A record number of pilots are planning to fly Ozone in this year's X-Alps Race, and we look forward to releasing this design to the public as well, this summer. It is a 3-Line design (after much deliberation and testing, we decided to go for a 3L design for its ease of use and comfort in the most demanding conditions), which is currently weighing in at less than 3.5kg. Performance is excellent, significantly better than the M4. Overall comfort is also very good, and Chrigel is confident that this is the best wing that he can imagine for the intense conditions that pilots are forced to fly in during the X-Alps. Stay tuned for more info - we hope to have this wing ready for the public before the X-Alps race in July.

Enzo2: nažalost nema ništa u ovoj sezoni od EnZota 2, ne stignu ga završiti do zadnjeg roka 15.04.2013. kako bi bio prihvaćen za Svjetsko prvenstvo (Bugarska, srpanj ove godine). Nastavlja se s projektom i bit će izbačen u tijeku sezone.

M5 UPDATE

At the moment we are working on 3 exciting new designs in the M5 series. First, the M5 3-Liner, which is now in the final stages of development. This 3-Line design has an Aspect Ratio of 6.9, a SharkNose Profile, and significant improvements over the M4 in almost every respect; the R&D Team reports that this new design has much nicer handling, with a more precise feel, a better climb, and increased stability in accelerated flight. The feeling, according to Dav Dagault, our chief test pilot, is “Delta-esque, rock solid, with excellent sail cohesion”, and even the standard version is lighter than the M4.

With Chrigel’s help, we have developed a wing that is designed from the ground up to perform in the world’s toughest adventure race, the X-Alps. The LM5 will be used by a record number of Ozone pilots in the 2013 X-Alps race. We chose this design based on its exceptional stability in turbulent conditions which the X-Alps pilots are forced to fly in. the 3L design is comfortable and easy to launch, even in difficult circumstances, and our current prototypes are exceptionally light!

After the completion of the 3L designs mentioned above, which is imminent, we will release a 2-Line Mantra M5 as well. This version is aimed at pilots who are looking to transition to the competition class of modern 2L designs. With a slight performance increase and the inherent benefits of a 2L design in flight (rear riser control, increased speed), the M5 2L is the perfect step for pilots looking to move up to the highest level of competition wings.

Many pilots will now be asking themselves, “Which M5 is for me?” We think that most M4 pilots will find the 3L best suited to what they need, whilst the most ambitious ones may opt for the 2 liner. On launch, the 3L is significantly easier to handle, and is generally a more forgiving wing. The comfort and ease of use of the 3L will yield the highest “True Performance” for many pilots. The 2L offers a performance advantage and more efficiency at high speed thanks to the precise rear riser control. In return, it requires more active and precise piloting in turbulence.

We will continue to post news here on the progress made with the M5 series. Please refrain from emailing us (The R&D Team in particular, please let them work) regarding this project as we truly need to dedicate all of our time to this project. We are later than we had hoped to be due to uncooperative weather in the south of France, but we’re very happy with the results so far and we are confident that you will agree it is worth the wait.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the LM5. The first sizes are now certified and being delivered to the X-Alps pilots. It is about to appear on the dealer order forms for other pilots to enjoy. Using our light weight knowledge and all the research from Delta, Mantra and Enzo series of prototypes we have developed a wing that we think is perfect for the X-Alps competitors, giving a significant step up in performance over the M4 and LM4, whilst maintaining the usability and comfort needed to fly such a competitive wing in demanding situations. The LM5 MS weighs in at 3.35kg.

Initially the aim was for the M5 to be a more hard wearing (heavier) version of the LM5, but recent prototypes have shown that we can further improve upon the LM5 performance by using designs features that are not compatible with the X-Alps need for lightness and other design features that further enhance the wing. We have therefore decided it would be wrong of us to produce an M5 now, when we know that with a bit more time, we can make what we think will be the ultimate 3 line design. A wing designed to satisfy the needs of all previous M4 owners. Therefore, we have taken the decision to not launch the M5 and concentrate on the new design concept that we think will be fitting as the M6 in the Mantra range, launching this winter for the 2014 season. We will also launch the 2 line version for the pilots wanting an extra competitive edge.

We are sorry to all those M4 pilots who have patiently waited for the M5, but we feel it would be unfair of us to deliver a wing now, knowing we already have the M6 concept firmly within our sights.

We hope you can understand our position on this and convey our apologies to your customers who have been waiting - and please let them know we think we have something really good for them this winter, well in time for the 2014 season. We hope they can wait!

A SNEAK PEAK AT THE OZONE TEAM X-ALPS GEAR

We’ve just shipped out equipment for the 12 Ozone Pilots in the 2013 X-Alps. Here’s a sneak peak at what they’ll be flying:

The LM5

The new LM5 is the product of a design brief decided between the Ozone R&D Team and Chrigel Maurer. It was developed specifically for the extreme challenges of the X-Alps race, and more X-Alps competitors will be flying it (12) than any other wing. Weighing in at a mere 3.35kg in the MS size, the LM5 is an ultralite high-tech performance wing designed to excel in the most difficult alpine conditions. The R&D Team describes it as the “Ultimate X-Alps Wing”, due to its unparalleled ratio of efficiency to comfort in active air. Equipped with the Ozone SharkNose leading edge and a some complex but lightweight internal construction, the LM5 performs equally well in deep-brakes for backcountry valley or top-landings as it does on full speed in active air.

The OZIUM

We have also released a new harness for the X-Alps Team Pilots, designed in cooperation with Eric Lotscher. The X-Alps Team version of the OZIUM weighs in at just 1.8kg (with back protection, 1.5kg without), and is a seatboard-less pod with a carbon-fiber footplate and a rear-mounted reserve compartment. The OZIUM will be released to the public after the X-Alps race and will feature slightly more adjustment capabilities and EN certification.

We are pleased to say the LM5 is now on the order form in the MS size. Weighing in at a 3.5kg and being in every way better in performance and handling than the M4/LM4 we think this wing will interest a lot of people. Please remember it uses light weight materials which need greater care, but we also offer a standard webbing riser too, for those that find the lightweight riser version too fiddly. Due to the light weight cloth usage there are just 4 colour options, so to give pilots the widest possible choice this wing is offered with free custom colours.
More information will be on our website shortly.
Next week we should be adding the S and ML to the order form. No other sizes are planned at the moment.

NEW PRODUCTS FOR 2014

At the Coupe Icare last weekend, we released info on some exciting new products that will be available in early 2014. Also, check out this video of Dav Dagault summarizing some new stuff for next year.


The Mantra M6


The M6 is the ultimate 3 liner! We wanted to take the performance 3-line concept to its absolute maximum, and that’s what we have done. The M6 is an evolution of the LM5, which swept the top 5 spots of the 2013 X-Alps Race and saw Chrigel into goal in record time. We took the best design elements of the LM5, and added all of the extra performance that was possible without the serious weight restrictions demanded by the X-Alps Team. The M6 has 66 cells, a flat AR of 6.92, 23% line drag reduction from the M4, and of course the Ozone Shark Nose Technology. This Ultimate 3-Line design has incredible handling for its aspect ratio, and all of the comfort and solidity that the world’s Ozone SharkNose pilots have come to love. More info will be posted as we can release it, we hope to be shipping this wing in the first weeks of 2014.

The Rush4

It’s the Delta 2’s little brother. We are extremely excited about this wing, and think that it represents as much of a leap forward as the Delta 2 has proven to be. The Rush 4 has class-crushing performance, and some features which we have never before applied to its class, including Ozone SharkNose Technology. In much the same way that the Delta 2 put huge smiles onto the faces of our R&D Team during the final testing phases, we think the Rush 4 will more than satisfy even the most demanding pilots in the Sport-Intermediate class, and maybe even tempt some pilots from other more advanced classes, as well. The Rush 4 has 57 cells, a flat AR of 5.55, a 25% line drag reduction from the Rush3, and is a 3-Line design with SharkNose Technology. Overall, it has a very similar feel to the Delta 2 in terms of handling, precision, solidity, and spin-resistance while coring lift. The release timing for the Rush 4 is similar to the M6, we hope it will be shipping in the first weeks of 2014.

The Ozium Harness

The Ozium proved to be an ideal tool for the toughest and most brutal adventure race in the world, The RedBull X-Alps. Ozone Team Pilots flew the Ozium for long XC flights in the most intense Alpine conditions, and carried it through the heart of the Alps for days on end. We have taken the X-Alps competition prototype and added a bit more durability and user-friendliness, making it an excellent choice for pilots seeking a lightweight pod system that is comfortable and features a very low pack volume. The Ozium has no seatboard, and features a carbon-fiber footplate inside the pod. The Ozium features LTF certification, a foam back-protector, and a rear-integrated reserve compartment, all weighing in at just 2.5kg in total. Our aim is to have this harness shipping in 3 sizes by the end of 2013, even though it is a 2014 product. Stay tuned for more news.

THE XXLITE 14M

Here at Ozone, lightweight paraglider construction has been a focus and a passion for us for more than 10 years. When we released the XXLite, it was the first successful single-surface ultra-light paraglider, and it subsequently won the innovation prize at the Coupe Icare and has since proven to be very popular with lightweight enthusiasts and experts all over the world.

The XXLite 14m weighs in at an incredible 1.1kg. As far as we know, it is the lightest descent wing ever designed. It is meant for serious alpinists and seasoned hike & fly pilots who are capable of managing a wing with shorter brake travel, higher trim speed, and lower flare power than the other sizes of XXLite. While this wing is truly cutting edge in terms of its extremely light and compact design, it does require a higher level of piloting than the 16m and 19m sizes.

This 14m size has been tested by the Ozone R&D Team and a select few of our team pilots over the past year, and our testing has shown that it is a solid and usable size, but does require increased awareness, skill, and judgment. Izbačena je veličina MS (80-95 kg). Uskoro i ostale velčine izlaze na tržište. Nudi se i popust od 10% za narudžbe do 22.11.2013. za sve veličine. Redovna cijena M6 će biti 2900 € (preporučena za Evropu je 4200 €), a s popustom 2610 € za veličinu MS. Manje i veće veličine gradiraju po 30€.

The M6 is the ultimate 3 liner. We wanted to take the performance 3-line concept to its absolute maximum, and that’s what we have done. The M6 is an evolution of the LM5, which swept the top 5 spots of the 2013 X-Alps Race and saw Chrigel into goal in record time. We took the best design elements of the LM5, and added all of the extra performance that was possible without the serious weight restrictions demanded by the X-Alps Team.

The M6 has 66 cells, a flat AR of 6.92, 23% line drag reduction from the M4, and of course the Ozone Shark Nose Technology. This Ultimate 3-Line design has incredible handling for its aspect ratio, and all of the comfort and solidity that the world’s Ozone SharkNose pilots have come to love.

The Ozium is currently on hold whilst we resolve some issues on our production samples.

Rush 4 progressing for hopefully launching in December.
